★ As featured in Glam Adelaide2025 SA Restaurant & Catering Awards finalist

This is our story, told one bowl at a time. Bà Năm Lời — "Grandma Nam" — first ladled phở from her home kitchen in Trảng Bàng, Tây Ninh, Vietnam back in the 1970s, and the family recipes haven't changed since. Her grandson Huynh Nguyen (our manager) and owner Thi Gai Vo brought those same recipes to Adelaide and opened Bà Năm Restaurant in 2023.

Everything here circles back to one dish: Phở Tái, the bowl Bà Năm is famous for. The "red coin" is a paper-thin, round, red slice of rare local beef laid over the noodles raw, then cooked right in the bowl by our boiling 18-hour bone broth. By the time it reaches your table it's pink and tender — that's the signature. We're proud to have been named a finalist in the 2025 Hostplus SA Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence (Vietnamese Restaurant category) and featured by Glam Adelaide.

A full table of Vietnamese dishes being served at Bà Năm Restaurant, Adelaide — cơm tấm, stone-bowl phở and fresh herbs
Hearty bowls, family recipes, no shortcuts — straight out of Bà Năm's Trảng Bàng kitchen.

Our beef is locally sourced, and Huynh drives out to the farms every Sunday to pick up fresh vegetables for the week. Authentic recipes and honest ingredients are what made Bà Năm famous in Tây Ninh, and they're what we cook with here on Grote Street. We're not a luxury venue, just very genuine — come ready to be fueled up for a big, enthusiastic day. Comfort food, generous bowls, no fuss.

One honest note: at peak hours there's usually a 15–30 minute wait for a table. We'd rather tell you straight than have you caught by surprise — it moves steadily, and the bowl is worth it.

Below you'll find our full collection of food guides — every dish on our menu, the story behind the broth, and where to find us at 65 Grote St, Adelaide CBD.
